Day 1: Calgary, Canada
Welcome to Calgary, also known as “Cowtown” & the heart of the country & western culture in Canada, however, don’t let that fool you as it is still an amazing metropolitan city. Head to Calgary Two for a view of the city from the Clouds or Calgary Zoon for a fun & informative day out. If you are looking for something a little deeper then head to the Glenbow Museum & seasonally see Heritage Park Historic Village.
Your Tour Director is on hand late this afternoon to answer any questions.
Day 2: Touring: Calgary – Banff National Park
The discovery of oil converted this ranching town into a sophisticated city. It is also home to the world-famous Calgary Stampede. Tour many of the city’s attractions, including Canada Olympic Park, and the Saddledome. Motor west through the foothills and into BANFF NATIONAL PARK, gateway to the majestic Canadian Rockies. An orientation tour includes Banff’s unspoiled beauty.
Day 3: Touring: Banff National Park
Banff is one of Canada’s favourite year-round resorts, with summer activities such as hiking, boating, and fishing. With a free day, your Tour Director will suggest an optional helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies.
Day 4: Touring: Banff National Park – Lake Louise – Columbia Icefield – Jasper National Park
Enjoy a day of scenic grandeur. The first stop is Lake Louise, whose turquoise waters create a natural mirror that reflects the surroundings. Up next: a stop at the COLUMBIA ICEFIELD to experience the Ice Explorer, an all-terrain vehicle that travels on ice that is 750 feet (230 metres) thick. Then, journey north into JASPER NATIONAL PARK, where precipitous gorges, snow-capped summits, and lakes of exquisite blues and greens come into view as the motorcoach scales two mountain passes. Later, your Tour Director suggests an optional float trip down the Athabasca River. Enjoy an orientation tour of Jasper townsite upon arrival.
Day 5: Touring: Jasper National Park
Today, join our optional excursion to Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, where you embark on a narrated cruise of the lake. The balance of the day is free to enjoy everything Jasper has to offer-from guided hikes and quaint shops to meandering wildlife.
Day 6: Touring: Jasper National Park – Mount Robson – Kamloops
Depart Jasper and follow the Fraser River to the base of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The Yellowhead Highway continues south along the mighty Thompson River, with spectacular views of the Monashee Mountains. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 7: Touring: Kamloops – Ferry Crossing – Victoria
As you travel through British Columbia’s Coast Mountain Range to its majestic Pacific coastline, the vegetation changes from desert landscape to lush alpine forests. Board your ferry for the spectacular crossing to Vancouver Island. Sightseeing in Victoria includes world-famous BUTCHART GARDENS, the Inner Harbour, Bastion Square, and Thunderbird Park. This evening consider a stroll along the lively Waterfront Promenade.
Day 8: Touring: Victoria
Today is free to explore on your own. You may choose to join an optional wildlife and whale-watching trip cruising the beautiful waters of the San Juan and Gulf Islands, looking for whales, porpoises, seals, and eagles. Your Tour Director will have ideas for enjoying this most British of Canadian cities.
Day 9: Touring: Victoria – Ferry Crossing – Vancouver
This morning, set sail across the Strait of Georgia and through the spectacular Gulf Islands, an archipelago known for its climate. In Vancouver, city sightseeing includes Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown, and other famous landmarks. The remainder of the day is free to explore Robson Street and experience British Columbia’s premier shopping and entertainment location.
Day 10: Seattle, United State of America
You will be transferred from your hotel in Vancouver to the cruise terminal in Seattle to begin your Alaska Voyage.
Day 11: At Sea
Your day at sea will allow you to take full advantage of everything the ship has to offer. Seek out hidden treasures and make the most of the facilities onboard. All of the ship’s activities can be found in the vessel’s daily newsletter. If relaxation is on your mind then your sea day will allow you to sit back, soak in ship life and watch the world as it floats by you.
Day 12: Juneau, Alaska
The only state capital in the USA that can only be reached by boat or seaplane. With no road access and its extremely remote location, the wildlife and wilderness in Juneau are second to none! Go sea kayaking, pan for gold, visit a salmon hatchery, or take a whale-watching trip. Don’t miss the Mendenhall Glacier and a glimpse back to the ice age!
Day 13: Skagway, Alaska
Gold was discovered nearby in 1896, causing Skagway to grow quickly. You can see gold rush era buildings preserved in the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Another activity from this period, the Yukon Route Rail Road will take you on a vintage locomotive tour of the area with fantastic views out over the mountains.
Day 14: Glacier Bay, Alaska (Scenic Cruising)
One of the highlights of this cruise is exploring Glacier Bay National Park. Comprised of 3.3 million acres of natural wonders, it is home to magnificent glaciers (especially Sawyer Glacier), snow-capped mountains, and an abundance of birds and wildlife.
Day 15: Ketchikan, Alaska
Today’s adventure brings us to Ketchikan, another fascinating location on the Alaskan coast. Visit a Native American village, watch a lumberjack show, take a trip to the Misty Fjords or go crab fishing!
Day 16: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Roam the spacious lawns of stunning Butchart Gardens with its exotic flora, unusual topiary, and exquisite fountains. Explore historic Bastion Square, the treasures of Chinatown, and the many sights and sounds of the Inner Harbour.
