Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs.

Day 2: Split, Croatia

This Mediterranean city on the eastern shores of the Adriatic has a long and eventful history dating back to the awesome Diocletian’s Palace (circa 295 A.D.) in the centre of the city. Split offers cruise guests a wealth of exciting places to visit, from the majestic cathedral and marble streets in the centre of town to the harbour area with its cafe-filled promenades and views of coastal mountains.

Day 3: At Sea

Your day at sea will allow you to take full advantage of everything the ship has to offer. Seek out hidden treasures and make the most of the facilities onboard. All of the ships activities can be found on the vessels daily newsletter. If relaxation is on your mind then your sea day will allow you to sit back, soak in ship life and watch the world as it floats by you.

Day 4: Santorini, Greece

Explore this quintessential Greek island with pristine white houses with blue accents and beautiful beaches. Once you’ve seen one of the famous sunsets, you’ll understand why this is the most visited island in the region!

Day 6: Dubrovnik, Croatia

Despite the magnificent 13th century walls that surround the city, Dubrovnik is one of the most welcoming cruise destinations in all of Europe. Dubbed “the pearl of the Adriatic”, this Croatian city exudes romantic charm and beautiful scenery with its shimmering marble streets, centuries-old buildings capped by bright orange roofs and lovely beaches ensconced between awesome rocky ledges.

Day 7: Ancona, Italy

Visit Ancona’s well-signposted Roman remains along the way, will take you to the pink-and-white Duomo. Ancona’s large, three-storey Museo Archeologico in the old quarter is a fair place to while away an hour or two, its wacky moulded ceilings vaulting over a collection of finds ranging from red- and black-figure Greek craters to a stunning Celtic gold crown. To the south of Ancona, some 32 km up the Esino valley from Jesi, with its white cliffs, blanched pebble beaches, thick protected forests and easy-going resorts.
